Plastics VS. Health

There is a great article in the New York Times by Nicholas Kristof titled “Are Your Sperm In Trouble?”

Kristof states that an increasing proportion of human sperm are misshapen.  In a typical young man that proportion is currently 90%. He continues to build a case that scientific studies now show that not everyone who wants to reproduce will be able to. Are we facing a crisis in human reproduction?

Studies done in the last 25 years are pointing to a class of chemical, endocrine disruptors, as one of the causes of weakness and malformation in sperm. These chemicals can interfere with the endocrine (or hormone) system. They can cause anything from cancer to developmental disabilities to lower IQ. Any system in our bodies that is controlled by hormones can be affected by endocrine disruptors.

These chemicals are found in a myriad of products including cosmetics, plastics and pesticides.

You can protect yourself and your family by avoiding products containing these chemicals. The Environmental Working Group has published their “Dirty Dozen List of Endocrine Disruptors”. This is a great place to start if you choose to eliminate as many endocrine disruptors as possible from your lifestyle.  And always remember choosing products with the USDA Certified Organic seal ensures a product free of any chemicals.

At Indian Meadow Herbals all of our products are packaged in glass.  We have matched product packaging with product quality. The entire Blue Line, massage oils, and the Organic Love Your Face Cream are packaged in Miron deep violet glass. This deep violet glass is the only packaging that protects its contents from heat and light degradation. Swiss glass makers developed this glass to protect product vitality by effectively filtering the most dangerous light rays and prohibiting the escape of the product’s inherent energies.

We think this is amazing!   What do you think??  Leave your comments below.  Let’s get a conversation going!
